THE POPDEFECT
LIVE WITH THIS COLLECTION
HISTORY/GALLERY
Popdefect was founded in 1980 in Seattle, Washington by guitarist Alan Anderson, bass player Charlie Hutchinson, and drummer Nick Scott.  Moving their home base to Los Angeles in 1982, they began a series of epic tours across the United States, their first crammed in a '66 Pontiac Catalina.

In 1989, filmmaker Brad Vanderburg, after hearing countless stories of their adventures on the road, started touring with Popdefect with hopes of creating a documentary.  After three years of filmming and a year in the edit room, LIVE WITH THIS - Adrift in America premiered in Los Angeles in April of 1993.  The film would tour the film festival circuit and screen throughout the world.

In addition to three music videos produced during their career, Vanderburg and Popdefect would release another long form video in 1995, POPDEFECT LIVE IN BIG BEAR which documents their  performances in Big Bear, California and their encounter with fictional manager Eddie Connoly (Dan Sutherland). In November of 2000, after twenty years in the rock-n-roll trenches,  Popdefect retired as a band.

In April of 2013, Popdefect reunited for shows in Seattle and Los Angeles.  POPDEFECT LIVE AT SLIMS LAST CHANCE documented the Seattle reunion.

Decades in the making, Vanderburg finally collects all of Popdefect's video catelog in one DVD, THE POPDEFECT LIVE WITH THIS COLLECTION, released in January of 2016.
